AEON's Underwriting staff, led by Gerald Bushey, Chief Executive of Underwriting, and consisting of Ellen Deter, Lizette Felde, Michael Laugher, Renee Low, and Donna Fairfax brings unparalleled industry experience and contacts. Our Corporate Counsel and Director of Human Resources, Pat Wendleton possesses in-depth legal knowledge and experience in the insurance industry.
Lee Wendleton's background in marketing and sales spans more than thirty years. Before joining AEON as a founding member, he served as Regional Vice President of Marketing and Sales for a national Fortune 200 company. Throughout his career, Mr. Wendleton has worked with insurance companies around the United States, among them many of the nation's most prestigious carriers. His invaluable expertise has been employed in administration, marketing, and claims, where he offered guidance in applied technology for communications and workflow management. Lee holds a Bachelor of Art degree in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Air Force prior to establishing himself in marketing and sales. He is married and makes his home in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Mark Sedlacek - Executive Vice President Mark Sedlacek, a founder of ÆON Insurance Group, Inc., has been active in the insurance industry for over two decades. Mark has developed and established, class specific insurance programs, program underwriting operations, and broker networks throughout the United States. He has developed and established successful insurance programs targeting towing operators/towing operators with garages, repossessor, petroleum marketers, and security guards/private investigator and alarm installers. Mark’s diverse background includes program development, program management, underwriting, marketing, and claims management. Mark is responsible for nationwide expansion of existing programs by establishing the critical link between insurance carrier and retail broker to ensure program longevity and profitability. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree, IIA designation, and certificates from Vale National and the General Adjustment Bureau. He also holds broker licenses in most states. Mark and his wife have traveled extensively on temporary duty following ÆON's needs in the underwriting office located on the East coast. He and his wife are currently located in Texas.
Gerald Bushey - Chief Executive Officer/Chief Underwriting Officer Gerald (Jerry) Bushey brings more than 30 years of underwriting management experience to AEON. Mr. Bushey has extensive experience with all lines of property and casualty insurance. His expertise includes program development and management on both a national and regional basis with a global insurance carrier. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as his CPCU designation. Jerry resides with his wife in High Point, North Carolina. He is based out of AEON's High Point, North Carolina office.
Ellen Deter - Senior Underwriter Ellen Deter has been involved in retail and wholesale insurance operations for over 20 years. Her knowledge and experience as a Senior Underwriter is a key to the success of AEON's national commercial programs. Ms. Deter's expertise concentrates in commercial liability and property insurance. She has been responsible for underwriting towing, repossession, and security insurance nationside. Ms. Deter holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wittenberg University. She earned her CPCU designation in 1994 and the ARM in 1999. Ellen is licensed for property and casualty and life and health and medicare supplement insurance. She resides with her husband in the northern most part of North Carolina.
Lizette Felde - Senior Underwriter Lizette Felde possesses an in-depth, diversified knowledge of Commercial Auto insurance as a result of a decade and a half of underwriting experience in the insurance industry, specifically in the Tow Truck arena. Her experience ranges from General Agency Management, to Producer, to Commercial Underwriting ,to organizer of Driver Safety Programs and Insurance Seminars for Tow Operators. Her underwriting expertise was developed at both a brokerage firm and a Managing General Agency. Her well-rounded background further enhances AEON's underwriting team. Lizette holds a Certificate of General Insurance, and AIS, AAI, AAM, AIT, CIC, CPIW, DAE; designations and is continually involved in educational projects specific to the insurance industry, including holding the office of President within the local chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women, International. Lizette lives in Mocksville, North Carolina.
Michael Laughner - Senior Underwriter Michael Laughner joined AEON Insurance Group, Inc. in 2006. He has accumulated over 18 years of property & casualty experience in both insurance companies and managing general agencies. During his career, Michael has developed underwriting expertise in transportation underwriting. In particular, he has developed in depth knowledge of the long haul trucking market. He has extensive experience with dump truck operations, hazardous materials haulers, and trucking worker’s compensation. He has also worked with contractor programs and excess and surplus lines.
Michael is the lead underwriter for AEON's Auto Transporter Program. He is also responsible for multiple states in the towing program.
Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bethany College and a MBA from Texas Christian University. He is licensed for property and casualty in North Carolina and is studying for CPCU designation. Michael and his wife reside in Greensboro, NC.
Renee Low brings a decade plus of insurance experience to AEON. Over the past years, Ms. Low has specialized in AEON's tow programs and has been responsible for multiple states. As an underwriter, she is, therefore, knowledgeable in all facets of the tow insurance market. Renee's past experience and knowledge acquired in both the independent insurance agent and insurance carrier arenas make her a valuable asset for AEON's program for towing. Ms. Low has an AU Designation, and holds a "Certificate of General Insurance" and a "Certificate of Underwriting." She continues her education in the underwriting discipline. Renee and her husband make their home in Thomasville, North Carolina.
Donna Fairfax - Service Supervisor Donna Fairfax brings 20 years of commercial insurance experience to AEON. She has extensive experience and training in all lines of commercial insurance. While at AEON, Ms. Fairfax has been a team member responsible for the underwriting of the towing and repossession programs. Currently, she is supervising the team in the Underwriting Process Department. Donna has completed INS courses and is now focused on acquiring her CPCU designation. Donna is married and resides in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Patricia Wendleton - Corporate Counsel & Director of Human Resources Pat Wendleton possesses in-depth legal knowledge and experience in the insurance industry. Ms. Wendleton has successfully represented prestigious national and regional insurance companies and their insureds in both state and federal courts. Prior to her career as a trial lawyer, she was employed in the insurance industry as a claims representative and claims supervisor directing property and casualty claim staff. Insurers such as Allstate Insurance, CNA, Transamerica, and Ohio Casualty employed her. Ms. Wendleton acquired her expertise in human resources while employed as a senior partner in her own law firm and through the representation of defendants in employment cases. Pat Wendleton received her Jurist Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law. She is married and makes her home in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
